Exporting from Romexis.
Planmeca Romexis drives ProMax and Viso units and is one of the most common imaging suites in Australian practices. Both 2D images and full CBCT volumes export cleanly as DICOM.

Open the patient and image
In Romexis, open the patient file and double-click the OPG image so it is active in the 2D module.

Export the image
Go to Output (or right-click the image) → Export Image. Choose JPEG at maximum quality, or DICOM if available — DICOM is preferred because it retains acquisition data.

Choose a folder you can find
Export to Desktop or Downloads. Name the file with the patient surname so it is easy to match during upload.

Open the CBCT volume
Open the patient in Romexis and launch the 3D module with the study you want reported.

Open the export dialog
Click Output → Export Volume. In Romexis 6 it is the Export icon in the top right instead. Do NOT export a screenshot or single-slice image.

Set the format
File & Format Options: 'Set of Single Frame DICOM Files' — this is the one we need. 'Single frame' means one slice per file, so Romexis writes a folder of hundreds of them; the alternative packs the whole volume into one .dcm, which we cannot forward for reporting. Resolution: 'Original'. Export 3D Volume to: 'Folder'.

Clear the three checkbox groups
Leave Anonymize UNCHECKED — an anonymised scan can't be matched to your case. Leave Overlay options and Viewer Options with no checkmarks either; we only need the .dcm slices.

Choose the folder and export
Click the '…' box and browse to a folder on the Desktop named after the patient, then OK. Romexis writes a folder of .dcm slices (often hundreds of files). Open it and check: hundreds of .dcm files is a good export, a single large .dcm is not.

Zip the folder
Right-click the exported folder → Compress (Windows: 'Send to → Compressed folder'). Upload the single .zip to us.
[ TIPS ]
- A CBCT export is a folder of hundreds of .dcm files, one per slice — that is normal, and it is what we need. Zip the whole folder.
- A single large .dcm (a multi-frame or 'VOL' export) cannot be forwarded for reporting and will have to be exported again.
- Keep the full field of view — avoid cropping unless the region of interest is certain.
